my nikon d80

I received a comment in my previous blog snapshot from a visitor named Felix

Through your lens I see the world. Keep up the good work. Hope I could one day visit these places.

Although it may only be a simple comment, somehow it struck  a cord because of the simplicity but depth of the reaction. It’s nice cause it makes me appreciate the things that I do just for the heck of wanting to post pictures of places I’ve been to. It does hold a fact that whenever we write something, or publish an entry, we are seeing a life of another person in their eyes; or in this case, lens. I hope to share more facts and tidbits in this blog as I still have a number of pictures stored. Although I do have another site where I talk about how I got to these places, I give more focus on pictures here since we can appreciate the shots even better.

I hope to capture more places, events, things and random what-nots.

My Nikon D80

This was taken in a condotel room in Manila called Torre Venezia. Spent two separate weeks there for a business trip and decided to play with my camera since i just bought a tripod and took a shot in front of the mirror.

This is one of my first shots when I p purchased my Nikon D80. Was so happy that I got a hold of this baby that I kept on clicking what I could. I’m a trigger-happy person that’s why I was excited to be able to buy this camera.

This shot was taken at the passenger seat of my friend’s wheels.

Haven’t been able to update this blog with pictures for the longest time. So pathetic of me not to at least post something. Anyway, I’m still thinking about a project I can do like post edited pics about a certain theme or do a Project 52 or 365. I have to think it over again.

In the mean time, here are just a couple of photos I took with my sneakers. Felt pretty bored and these shoes were still new. I finally conceded to buying a pair of Chucks to conform with the norms for my PE class last semester. So far, I haven’t complained.

Yey! I won, I won! hehe.

I joined a photo contest in our company and I’m happy that I won!

The concept was to take a picture of persons or things in a standing position and should be aligned with the theme “Together We Stand”. I already have some stock photos using my Olympus SW790 camera but Doi was hesitant since the matte print wasn’t as good as we thought it would be. Here are my original entries…

However, since Doi insisted on really getting a better shot using my Nikon D80, she figured on buying a new set of gummy bears and then take another shot. So off Doi, Audrey and I to SM. It was a bit embarrassing because we took this picture in SM Cebu and a few people were looking at us; as if I’m a professional one when I’m not. But hey, thanks to them, I won! Here’s the winning piece.

night shots on top of i2

Night Shots
i2 Building Roofdeck
Asiatown IT Park, Cebu City

Went up to the roof deck of the i2 building in Asiatown, IT Park and tried some night shots. These type of shots were the ones that I was never able to achieve using my Olympus point and shoot camera, or maybe I didn’t tweak it as much as I wanted to. Anyway, I had a bit of a time trying to position the camera because I didn’t have a tripod with me; I used the edges and the bars of the building to take these photos.

Got pretty messy at some points too because I had to kneel down. There was even a creepy part when suddenly a person went up to me while I was waiting for the camera to load. When I looked at who that was, it was the security guard of the building whom I thought at first tried to stop me from taking pictures. I was already reprimanded some time ago for staying there with no business. He thought I’d probably jump off the building. harhar.

So here’s my first attempt at night photography.
