I feel bad and I don’t feel like shooting. My D80 broke and had some malfunction going on. I have to call the service repair shop here in the Philippines. But then, shipping it to another region for repair would be such a waste of time. It will probably take months which is really hard to hold on to.
I’m keen on hiring a local tech to help me out, even if it’s for a hefty price. Anyway, I don’t feel good not having the camera functioning. It’s as if every day is a waste if I don’t get to update or just snap.

I received a comment in my previous blog snapshot from a visitor named Felix
Through your lens I see the world. Keep up the good work. Hope I could one day visit these places.
Although it may only be a simple comment, somehow it struck a cord because of the simplicity but depth of the reaction. It’s nice cause it makes me appreciate the things that I do just for the heck of wanting to post pictures of places I’ve been to. It does hold a fact that whenever we write something, or publish an entry, we are seeing a life of another person in their eyes; or in this case, lens. I hope to share more facts and tidbits in this blog as I still have a number of pictures stored. Although I do have another site where I talk about how I got to these places, I give more focus on pictures here since we can appreciate the shots even better.
I hope to capture more places, events, things and random what-nots.
My Nikon D80
This was taken in a condotel room in Manila called Torre Venezia. Spent two separate weeks there for a business trip and decided to play with my camera since i just bought a tripod and took a shot in front of the mirror.

I paid off my camera! I’m so happy that after 9 months of 0% interest, I’m finally free of paying every month for my Olympus SW790 baby.
I’m also glad that I’ve been receiving compliments from people with the different pictures that I took of this waterproof camera. Although in this blog, I did do some minor editing, cropping and sharpening, I’m glad that it’s not anything major.
I need to get my camera cleaned though, I haven’t had it checked since my trip in Siargao. However, I’m afraid that if I have it cleaned, then it wouldn’t be restored as compact as it was first bought. I’m still thinking twice. But I know I need to have it cleaned cause it’s still under warranty. I still have around 3 months for my warranty to be over and definitely, I don’t want to pay extra.
I was a bit hesitant cause I’ve been debating whether I should buy this or the Pentax W30 since they’re both waterproof. I’ve been able to create an entry out of it - Olympus SW 790 vs Pentax w30. But since I started getting those compliments (which is the time when i just purchased it), I knew I made the right decision.
Now that I have a point-and-shoot camera, I’m now wanting to buy a Professional DSLR. But I know that’ll be far off for now since I’m still on a tight budget cause I’m going back to school. I need to update my accounts which are really big.
Oh well, let’s hope I can get a Pro DSLR soon.

Some of you may wonder what type of camera I’m using. FYI, I’m currently using an Olympus SW790 point and shoot camera. I’m still paying for this baby as of the moment. I’ll be able to fully pay it after 7 months.
But just to set everybody’s expectations, the snapshots in this site are taken by different types of cameras; from Kodak to Sony, from Canon to some generic brands. These shots are just being archived in some networking site that I want to reach out to more people for the sake of sharing some pictures I’ve taken as I also want to learn more about this craft.
My baby: Olympus SW790
Some of you may wonder why I chose this type of camera and why not purchase a professional one. Here are some explanations.
- I can’t afford to buy a professional camera. I can’t even pay for my schooling, much more can I buy a DSLR.
- I’m still a newbie, so I want to learn some basic techniques without compromising myself as I needed something handy.
- I like something that would stay with me at times that I might get wet. I like to go out on trips *ehem* budgeted trips, so this camera is perfect for my outdoorsy personality. I like to go out to the beach usually, that’s why sometimes I get invited mainly because of my camera and not really me. hehe. Kidding. Lastly,
- because it’s what most people recommended, hehe. Really, I needed something waterproof cause aside from being able to capture underwater shots, I wanted peace of mind with regard to suddenly getting my camera wet. At least, I won’t have to worry about keeping it dry.
Honestly, I was contemplating whether I should buy the Pentax W30 over this Olympus SW790 because the former is cheaper. Anyway, for a detailed entry of how I was able to choose this model over that Pentax w30.

I wish to purchase a professional DSLR, however, I need to save up for it first as it’s also not my main agenda right now.
