got my camera back!

Posted on October 30th, 2009 by Ed Snaps  |  1 Comment »

and I’ m glad.

Today I felt a sense of relief to get my camera, my DSLR, my Nikon D80 back from the repair shop after almost two months!

I had my camera repaired because of problems after I used my camera at the beach. Somehow, it wouldn’t take any picture but the shutter would still function. I was really upset to realize that my camera was broken and it hasn’t even reached a year of use!

I felt weak in most point especially when I would have to go to events since I couldn’t capture the moment. Although it’s also good since I’m able to focus myself on other things such as maximizing my blog to earn more money and such, I still wanted to get my camera as soon as possible.

I had the camera repaired at Camera Care in Cebu. The repair man told me that I could get it back after two weeks. But then after how many follow-ups, it went up to two months. Right now, I’m really just happy that I got it back. It cost me an arm too. darn it.

I was planning to sent it to Manila to have it serviced in the Nikon Service Center, I don’t know why Nikon still hasn’t set up a service center here in Cebu. Anyway, when I called them up, they told me that it wasn’t covered with warranty even if I had the warranty slip since it was purchased in the black market. Sigh. To think that I had the official international warranty with me, they told me that the warranty was only good outside the Philippines (which explains the international tag, duh!).

Anyway, the good thing is that I got it back and it has two months warranty from the local repair shop (Camera Care). What’s up with the number 2? hehe.

Now I’m ready to snap away… only I have to get used to the camera again. My skills have somewhat decayed due to its absence. Sheesh.

Caleruega Church Pictures

Just gathered the pictures of Caleruega Church in Nasugbu, Batangas during a business trip some time Summer of 2009. A good place for a retreat to get some peace and quiet. The air is cool too!

still waiting

I’m still waiting for my camera to get fixed. It’s still with the local technician and it has been with them for over a month already. I don’t think I’ll recognize my camera if I see it again –> too much exaggeration.

But I hope that all will be well. I don’t like it when I’m not able to utilize and maximize my snapping capabilities.

Pump Boat Ride
Sabang Port to Guijal-o port
Camarines Sur

We were on a pump boat ride going to the Caramoan town in Camarines Sur when I got bored and took out my camera to take a shot of the bamboo and the water. I was playing with the settings (I don’t know which buttons I pressed but I know it was the shutter speed and the aperture, I think. hehe).

It was a two-hour ride which was really draining as we just got off from an eight-hour bus trip from Manila to Naga and another two-hour jeepney ride from Naga to Sabang Port. This boat trip is worth two hours and I did not have a rest for my back so I just did my best to sleep in whatever position I could ever imagine in the crowded boat.

Read the rest of the trip on how we got to Caramoan here:
